I may have sprayed the clearcoat too early. I did not let it dry for 24 hours...actually, only an hour - but at least it was only a few parts of the ship and not the whole thing.
I have been testing out the Microsol and Mircroset - not sure how to use them yet, any links to good tutorials?

Gloss coating decals - cracking
Been working on my first real attempt at model building with the 18" classic E. After all my hard work, finally on to the decal stage. Started with coating the model with several thin coats of Mr. brand gloss. After tedious application of decals, I waited for them to dry, then hit one side of t...

1/350 Refit Shuttlebay woes...
I have a forthcoming problem to solve and wanted to get some opinions and advice from you guys. I will do my best to explain it - I have to wait until next wednesday to take photos to show what I am talking about. The way that the shuttlebay attaches into the secondary hull, there is a gap between t...

Galaxy Quest Protector - lighting options?
I asked my local hobby shop to order the Galaxy Quest 'Protector' kit by Pegasus and I was curious to know what ready-to-install lighting kit options were out there (if any). I want to keep it simple and sweet - engine lights and window lights and was hoping that there is a pre-existing kit out ther...

I just got mine a few days ago. I had the instruction manual printed out in full color and binded for reference during my build - but unfortunately, I am a month or two away from even beginning to work with the lights! I am really taking my time to build this kit one piece at a time, and the modific...

Would it be necessary to buy a stock in all sizes? I know usage depends on need, but I've just been experimenting with standard blue painters tape. It seems to me, I should just buy the smalles mm available of the Tamiya tape - for the edge of the painting area, then add standard blue painters tape ...

The more coats you get on the tape the more likely you'll peel off some when you lift the tape. If you lightly score the paint with a sharp knife along the edge of the tape before you lift you can more or less do as many coats as you like. The other thing to watch is the length of time masking stay...

Masking with several layers of paint?
I'm beginning work on my 1/350 refit, and although major paintwork is still months down the road, I wanted to get a heads up on a masking concern. I still havent decided if I should use liquid mask or the traditional method to mask off all the tiny windows on the kit, but was wondering how many laye...

Hello all, I'm new here - joined up to learn as much as I can to prepare me for my Refit 1/350 build. I was directed to this thread when I posed the question about putty options. As you may know, there are several rather large gaps on the PL Refit kit that need addressed - namely, the large gaps whe...
