Re: Micro Kristal (not so) Klear !!!

As is the case with a number of products - the conditions under which it is used can affect the results. A: Age - how long have you had it, or how long was it in stock? Old sometimes means shot... B: Humidity - was it a warm humid day? This stuff will soak up a bit of that humidity - and that will s...

Re: Plastruct Weldene

It's not listed on the Plastruct site at all... Just their Bondene and Plastic Weld - both of which contain toxins. :(

Re: Bendable EL Wire

It also doesn't appear to be very bright. Not sure if it would really work that well for lighting a model...

Re: Complimentary colors + white = gray !?

Yep - blue-grays, green-grays, etc...

Those area a staple of naval camouflage going back 100+ years.

Mountbatten pink is basically a reddish-gray color.

Yeah - I guess in a YUUUGE scale kit, it would work. You will probably have to overcoat it with something to darken the deck a little, or maybe fade the hull color a litter to look a bit more worn..?

I can't say much about the pre-stained wood deck. One maker may get the color right while another misses it by a mile...

Not a big fan of the whole "real wood" deck thing anyway, since it doesn't really look that scale (remember the graying effect - with range).

Well - there are several factors involved, the base tone of the material (wood vs steel), the surface texture and the fact that the wood will absorb some of the paint. I would expect the deck to be a little lighter than the steel sides and superstructure and the deck would look a little rougher in t...

Doesn't really matter - just needs to be in the same part of the circuit to keep the current under control.

Murphy's Oil Soap, or a bottle of "Graffiti Remover" and a little patience.

You can also just try the old trick of soaking them in warm water, and then use hand gel and rub the bristles clean...

If you do a little weathering (light rust etc.) the pure white will dull down a bit.

Using an extremely light grey (literally just a touch of a light grey in the white) would provide a scaling effect but, these ships were well maintained during the entire cruise of the fleet so... it's up to you.

The hull above the waterline, white (preferably a very pale grey). Hull below the waterline, classic "hull red", almost a red oxide color. From about the main deck up on the vertical surfaces of the hull and superstructure, "buff" - basically a tan/yellow color. The deck, bare li...
