I've given you a link to Don Matthys site and the small board he build to fit in the smaller hulls as in your 1/1000 scale replica. Maybe this can also point you in a better direction.

China and Ebay
I've ordered alot of Tamiya Spray on Ebay straight from China. It takes three weeks and its the real stuff. I don't mind waiting due to other projects or just prepping of my replica take up the time before paint. I hope this helps.
