Since posting this I've read and read and read and basically I'm not further forward :S hehe. I don't know the basics of electronics theory so things like circuit diagrams are fairly meaningless to me. I found this: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-build-your-own-LED-Color-Organ-Arduino-MSGE/?...

LEDs flashing in time to music / modifying a "car music

Hi all, I'm struggling with something. I want to have a set of different coloured LEDs flash in time to music. I looked into various ways of doing this but since my electronics knowledge is pretty much limited to hooking up LEDs in simple circuits, a lot of the ways seemed very complicated. I also l...

I was just about to post a question about paining a toy of the Milano from the Guardians of the Galaxy. I am having trouble painting it, is this why? Or is it made from something else? The box is no help!

I solved the problem!

It's quite a technical issue so I don't want to bog everyone down with the detail but the basics of it are as follows. When using a 4 way extension cable and when each plug has an isolated switch, it is necessary to turn the switch on.

Jesus :(

Hehe I've tried all that! Individually they work, together they don't. I'm also using about 5 different leds. I have no idea what's going on.

I thought you'd cracked it and I'd just been really stupid! Alas no, I typed the resistor color code wrong. The one I'm using is brown red brown gold.

I've checked the polarity of the legs over and over!

This makes no sense, right? It's not just me is it?

Mixing and storing paint

Hi folks, For my deep space nine model I'm thinking of going with a 50/50 mix of tamiya light grey and dark copper. I read somewhere that people use the tamiya thinners and just pour it straight into the bottle, up to the shoulder. Does anyone see any problems with me doing this with both bottles an...

Thanks for the support!

I'm not sure if I mentioned but the surface was spared with future prior to placing the decals on. Should I coat the decals in future first too? Is that what was being suggested?

Either something's not right or I'm incredibly stupid!

Hi guys, I have a problem and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong! I'm trying to connect three white leds together and I can't get it to work. Doing the math on paper and using a resistor calculator it says I need a 120 ohm resistor. The ebay guy I got the leds from lists the stats at 3.1v and 20ma ...

Hi,

Yeah I shredded quite a few of the decals and several others are quite squinty!

The other side has gone a lot better so I'm planning on finishing it and then doing as you suggested, painting it to be a lot brighter/shinier to make it look new :S hehe

Course correcting a decal disaster

Hi all, As I've mentioned in nearly every post I've written, I'm terrible at this hobby! I've only been doing it about six months but I don't think I'm going to get much better! I'm currently building the amt 1:2500 Enterprise D and I'm planning on lighting it. I'm at the decal stage and it's gone p...

Ahh thanks! I always assumed that when you saw super bright LEDs on eBay they were using a little poetic license! That makes sense as all the LEDs it's working with I've bought from an led supplier but the red ones I have are from a super cheap multipack from a shop. I've ordered some and will give ...

Hey,

From what I understand red LEDs have a forward voltage of 2V and forward current of 15mA.

The led seems to be running normal and the ends of the fibre are certainly lit , just not very brightly.

The fibre is 0.5 mm. No idea what's going wrong!

Not too long ago I was in a similar position to you! I got a bunch of cheap leds off of ebay, a pack of various resistors and a solderless circuit board and just youtube'd my way through it. It seems super complicated at first but once you get the hang of it it's not too bad. I still can't do anythi...

Hi all! Hopefully someone can help me. I'm currently building the Moevius/revell battlestar galactica. I'm lighting it and I'm more or less doing the same thing as this guy: http://secretsmodelling.webs.com/moebiusbsggalactica.htm I'm having trouble with the red lights though. In total I will have 6 LEDs in the saucer section, 4 in the nacelles and another 4 in the hull. Do you think the bell wire will cope with that?

Yeah, when I did my primer coats I sprayed the insides too and I've since coated the insides in white. Hopefully this will be enough to keep the light in!

Hey, Yeah, I'll be changing it to mains power at the end! Sadly I'm pretty sure none of my friends will be wowed by my Star Trek model. My girlfriend will at least pretend to be wowed though! I have lots of the thin wire that's coated in rubber/plastic...I think it's maybe bell wire? Say I had 5 of ...

Does this look about right, there the (R) is resistor and the blue pen is the wires? http://i.imgur.com/mOYKQn5.jpg I'll also be having LEDs in the hull and up in the warp nacelles..so basically there will be about 6 or 7 little circuits all coming out the bottom to hook up to the batte...

Very simple LED question!

Hi all! I have a question that’s probably laughably easy to answer! I’ll try keep it short. I’d never modelling before and I’d never worked with any sort of electronics before. I got a USS enterprise from revel at Christmas and built it. It looks terrible. After that I read and read about all the mo...
