No no no......the shock was a wow factor for me. I think it looks great.....how did you do the weathering? It looks like bare aluminum to me. It was a Games Workshop colour(Mithril Silver), painted on with a VERY fine brush. I tried to line each panel with it, showing the wear along all the edges. ...

What scale are you doing this in? I have no advice to give (I have a set of decals in 1/144 to do this bird 'cause I'm a cheater :D ) but I can't wait to see how you pull this off. I've seen your work so I know you can do it! 1/20. Should be a breeze based on Robb's insight with the stripes. Which ...

Re: New Iwata airbrush is on the way!
For our 6-year anniversary, my awesome wife ordered me a new Iwata Eclipse HP-CS airbrush. I've been using the cheapo Harbor Freight knock-off type airbrush for years now, and while that has worked pretty good so far, I'm excited to see the difference. The Harbor Freight airbrush was a siphon-feed ...

Thanks Terry, I have your number so I may just take you up on that if I get really stalled. I'm trying hard to learn on my own with some advice from you guys on some of the basic stuff. There's no better way for me to learn. :8) I sprayed today and learned some hard lessons. I did some pre-sh...

You can also over-tighten the spring tube which will limit how far back you can pull the trigger. You'll like the eclipse, Eric, but moving from an external-mix single-action to this type of airbrush can be a learning experience.... Yep, it's definitely different. I'm just trying to learn with litt...

Gravity fed brushes can run down to about 2psi depending on the paint. Bottle fed works fine between 12-20psi. Down for air, back for more paint. The more paint, the thicker the line. I've been limiting myself to three drops of paint at a time using the Vallejo stuff. Just to be able to judge the f...

Thanks Erin. I just went and sprayed some air and I noticed a little difference on my hand. I also noticed I had the knob on the regulator turned all the way to the + side so it was hitting 35PSI. I turned it down to about 20PSI and that seemed to make a difference too. I'll spray some paint again t...

Stupid Iwata Eclipse BS airbrush question
I didn't see this question answered elsewhere.....and it's kind of dumb......but I've been fooling around with my Iwata Eclipse BS airbrush and let's just say other than playing with an old Badger many moons ago I'm inexperienced. Anyhow, with the old Badger I could adjust between fine and wide spra...

Another option is to use a black marker over a base color, then airbrush faded and darker colors over that. As long as you don't go TOO heavy, the black marker (like a fine Sharpie) will just be tinted by the overcolors. I do this a lot for base panel lines. I was considering this, well something s...

To answer your questions all at once, I took the advice of photoguy and used green. Just for the heck of it. I thinned it out and ran it right through the panel lines and it came out pretty good. I think if I experiment a bit more with various darker shades as well like you guys suggested and a bit ...

Thanks for all the advice guys. It has really pointed me in the right direction. It took me doing a crappy job on the first attempt for the light bulb to kick on.  I figured out I needed to let it dry for a couple minutes before wiping clean. Plus with the panel lines being very thin and...

Question about applying a wash
I've got something I need to hand paint and I want to show the intricate detail and panelling.
Am I better off applying a thin black wash in the lines first, then wipe, then brush paint, or should I brush paint then apply a wash & wipe?
