Re: Enlarging a kit through scratchbuilding
I'm thinking about doing this for an anime-style armored vehicle. Its current scale is 1/72; I'd like to create a 1/35, and I'm trying to wrap my head around the process, as I've never done it before. Can anyone perhaps provide or point me to an example? I really wish I'd bought the blueprinting bo...

If you have a plastics manufacturer in your area, you could see if they sell a chemical called 'methylene chloride' or sometimes referred to as 'SC-94'. That chemical is similar if not the same as the commercial name Pro-Weld. You can get it in larger quantities, like 1L cans or bottles and the cost...

It sometimes depends on whether you use an accelerator or not. I've had the superglue dry up or just go rubbery if I left the accelerator too close to open CA or touched the CA bottle with an area that had accelerator on it. You can usually tell if it's from accelerator if you see a white crusty pow...

Both my fiance and I have used the Fleck-Stone spray paint before on the same model. With her Anubis model, check out the center of the StarGate base. The flat plastic was sprayed with Fleck-Stone to simulate sand, and then painted a sandy color.

The few I've done, such as the USS Earhart and the USS Challenger were done by making physical damage with Xacto knives and Dremel cutters and sanders, and then using a few shades of gray, black and silver to airbrush on the damaged look.

The way I've removed Micro-Mask is to place some masking tape rolled around my finger, sticky side out, and then dab the model. The masked area comes right up off the model. One thing I've learned about the stuff is to apply it thick! If the coat is too thin, it can really get stuck in crevasses and...

I know what it is, but I'm not allowed to tell! Neener, neener, neeeeener! (I actually provided the raw materials for his project....not saying whether it's a kit or not...you'll have to wait and be amazed.) I will say this....although it may not be unique, I haven't seen one done in my ma...
