Any time I switch to a new type of paint, it usually goes poorly. Getting used to acrylics takes a while, they just don't act the same as solvent based paints do. I find thinning Tamiya with water loads the paint with too much moisture, and can have poor results. I always default to the brand thinne...

- Topic: Acrylic paints incompatible? Tamiya and Model Master?

I find the ratio is dependant upon the specific paint, as some are a little more thin than others, gloss versus flat, and of course, how old the paint itself is, a half used bottle tends to be thicker than a new one fresh from Testors. I try to get my paint to about the thickness of milk, but i grew...

Testors and Tamiya acrylics are not compatable in my (or most of my customers) experience. The usual reaction is lumping. clumping and basically a curdling effect if you mix them together. If you paint them over top of each other, the effect varies as to how long the bottom coat is dry, and how heav...

Something else that helps is to run a sink of hot tap water, and stand the can in it for a few minutes after the first shaking. This helps bring the pressure up in the can, which helps atomise the paint that little bit better. Remove from the water, shake again for 20 seconds or so, then spray. Alvi...

What I do... Step 1: Shake can for 60 seconds Step 2: Place can in a sink of very hot tap water. leave in for about 2 minutes, or long enough to heat up the can. Step 3: Shake can again for 30 seconds. If it fells like it's cooled off a lot, replace in water for 30 seconds or so. Step 4; Hold at lea...

I'm assuming it's the solid block-type insulation foam using in housing and other construction work. It's available in sheet form of various thicknesses and is easily cut and sanded. I get it in Canada from hardware stores. Like Future Floor Wax, it may be available under a different name where you ...
