The operation was a success. I put water from the kettle in to a pot and diluted with cool water down to 65 deg C. Held the warped part of the model in for 25 seconds, then pulled out and straightened by hand. I had the kitchen faucet running 5' away, and quenched under cold water to 'set' it. Thank...

Thanks guys - I wasn't sure how hot I could go with the water, and sure didn't want to overdo it. I'll be doing this later today.

straightening warped resin with hot water

hi Guys,

I know of the hot water trick for straightening warped resin pieces. I was wondering if those of you who had done it had more information about how hot to make the water, general pointers, etc.

All help is appreciated!

Any info appreciated!

Again, thanks. That info is just what I need. There are a couple of big hobbyshops in Edmonton here, so I'll check around.

Thanks Dan,

Next question: what is Alclad and where do I get some? I want this bike to be really special for my dad, so I'm willing to go to considerable lengths.

large scale chrome finishes

No, I'm not building the Naboo ship from Episode 1, but doing something along those lines. I'm building a replica of my dad's old motorcycle, a 1966 Honda Superhawk. Although the kit comes with a couple of chrome plated trees, the fenders, which dear old dad had had chromed aftermarket on his bike, ...
