Another quick question, power for the unit will be AC or batteries? Does he want the signal lights to be light bulbs (AC night light size or the chandelier size bulbs) or LEDs. He is intending to use LEDs and likes the idea of batteries to make it nice and clean and able to move around wherever wit...

There is one time missing from the list, how long to keep the Light on, before starting the new 5 min count down. Or do they want the light on time to be included in the first x units of time during the next 5 minute count down. The idea is that each light would stay on until the whole thing reset....

Need some help for a friend. (lighting)
A buddy of mine recently picked up one of those table hockey games (where you slide the players back & forth and twist the handles to spin them to hit the puck) dirt cheap and is rebuilding the thing almost from scratch. He has gutted the thing and is only planning on using the most basic compon...

Question about clear & opaque resin mixing.
My son came up with a rather interesting idea and I want to see if anyone has tried this before so I know if it will work or not. He wants to build a Klingon Bird of Prey from the adversary kit, but he wants to simulate it mid-cloak. We talked it over and came up with the idea of making a mold of th...

Stripping LEDs from Christmas lights
I remember reading, quite some time ago, an article here on SSM about how to properly strip the LEDs out of a string of Christmas lights and what resistors were best to use with them. My wife, wonderful woman that she is, came home with a string of LED Christmas lights she found on sale quite awhile...

Emergency! Need EL Wire in New York City NOW!
A friend of mine, a pro photographer in New York city, is working on a project and needs to get his hands on some blue EL wire immediately. By the end of the week at the absolute latest. He asked me to try and track some down for him, and I know there has to be a million stores in New York to get so...

Re: Molding/Casting Starter Kits?
Allumilite seems to have cheaper possibilities for clear castings. I got started with an Alumilite kit I picked up at Hobby Lobby with one of the every other week 40% off internet cupons. Yeah, it can be a bit difficult to work with, but if you snag it on sale like that you get a lot for your money...

Cold Cathode into Outlets?
I'm thinking of picking up some cheap Cold Cathode tubes to light my PL NX-01. The catch is that these are deigned as computer lighting and only have the little plug on the end to hook them into a computer power supply. I have looked around, but I can't seem to find an adaptor (other than a cheap co...
