Help wiring 8 pin mic plug
Hey all- I am building another refit and I want to mount it using Orbital Drydock's 8" - 8 Pin Plug Threaded Mounting Post & Hardware Kit. However, how easy is it to wire up the male end of the plug that goes into the enterprise, and how do I do it? I have never wired one of these up before...

In need of flasher/strobe circuit
Hey all,
Can anyone direct me to where I can pick up an accurate flasher/strobe circuit for my 1/1400 Enterprise-D? Thanks, and happy holidays to all.

Good Source For FiberOptics?
Looking for a good source of fiber optics for the 1/1400 clear Enterprise D. I plan on using fiber optics on the nav/strobe lights and the rear red/green position lights. Any idea what size I should use as well? Thanks.

Ugh...My Decals are turning brown
I think the Vinegar in my decal solution turned my decals kind of brown. I am aplying a set of 1/350 refit decals from Talon/ Acretion Models and I am using Micro Set/Sol decal seting solutions. What I have found is a few hours after application some of the decals have turned slightly brown/yellow a...

Resistor Question
Just a quick question. Can you wire a 330ohm 1/4 watt resistor with a 68ohm 1/2 watt resistor to make a 398ohm resistor? does the wattage difference cause a problem?
Thanks
Thanks

Sparky, Just a thought could the flasher/strobe board be part of the problem? The reason I ask is that all the lights tahat are supposed to flash/strobe work but, three strobes (the two white lights top and bottom at the front center of the saucer and the white light on the top of the bridge module)...

Even More Heat
Ok, still having major heat issues in the neck and secondary hull. I got a regulated powersupply putting out 12v 4A. I've been doing a light test and have had the refit all powered up for the last 40 min and I am reading a peak temp in areas of the neck and secondary hull of 124 deg. F. (using an IR...

I am a bit nervous about the death thing. but, the power supply has not been plugged in for over two years. Can the thing still keep a charge? Also what sort of load do I need for the switching supply? Is a resistor sufficient or shouls I hook up a light? If this is a bad idea can anybody recomend a...

A question about using an Atx cpmputer power supply
Hey all, I am taking the plunge and I have decided to use a converted atx computer psu to light my refit. I've done some research and think I can safely complete the conversion. I plan to use the instructions found at this link. http://web2.murraystate.edu/andy.batts/ps/POWERSUPPLY.HTM My question i...

Sparky, Fokkerpilot, Thanks for all the help so far. I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply but I had to be away on business for a while. Before I left I did discover a short on the secondary hull. That corrected the lighing issue but it did not solve the heat issue. I think I am going to try a...

Sparky, To answer your question each LED has its own resistor. I havn't tested the voltage output of the A/C adaptor but I am leaning towards this being the problem. Because I can't bring myself to cracking open a completly painted and detailed secondary hull to search for a short ( I hope there isn...

Sparky, Thanks for the help!! After trying to trace back according to your questions I think I found the short and solved most of the problems. Hovever I am still having some what of a heat issue from the secondary hull and AC adaptor. My initial guess is that the power suppply (wall wort/AC adaptor...

Thanks for all the advice. I agree with Fuzzy and thats why I want to use a computer power supply. My question is still do I have to be concerned with all the hook up wires comming out of the supply or do I just use the fan (fo example) wire to attach to the main power wires comming out of the enter...

Using a computer power source to control LEDs, et al..?
Hey, I kind of have what might seem as a silly question. I have heard of others using a computer power supply to power LEDs and other components in a model, given all the varrious wires eminating from the computer power supply how do you properly hook up the LEDs to the power supply with out destroy...
