There's actually two Anthracites in the MM line. One is the Anthracite Grey Metallic, the other is Anthracitgrau which is a WW2 German color that's a tad darker than modern Gunship Grey. When building Revell Germany kits in the past, it's the Anthracitgrau that's usually called out in the instructio...

It's not a Metallizer color, it's an enamel from the MM2 line. It's also not gonna brush well unless you apply it really thick. I use this color all the time and it has to be put on in several coats to cover, or sprayed over another color. I usually spray it over Interior Black to represent carbon f...

Once you use this, you'll never go back to needles, knife blades, or "scribers". This is the tool to have if you're scribing lines in styrene.

Ure-Fil works great, but if you aren't pressure casting you'll have a beeyatch of a time getting decent parts due to bubbles. It also makes the parts brittle. Don't bother mixing old rubber with new, it aint worth the trouble. It doesn't pour well cuz it gets mega thick when you add chopped up rubbe...

Use the yellow pages to find a plastics company. Call them and ask for pricing on sheets of styrene. Once price is acquired, travel to their place of business and purchase. Roll it up to get it home, but IMMEDIATELY unroll it once home or you will end up with a styrene tube that you never get to fla...

You should see the bottle of Tamiya Silver Titanium I bought. No amount of thinning, mixing, shaking, molesting, or agitation of any sort can get it to not be like wet talc. The worst part about it is that every bottle of it I've seen (yes, I've opened them at the hobby store to check) has been exac...

Blue tack is good for doing soft edge camo, too. Roll it into worms, place along where you want the edge to be, cover the middle parts with paper or tape, spray. Works great. Just did it myself a few weeks back. Yeah, blue tack is great stuff. I bought about a dozen packs of it and now have a baseba...

I bought mine from a local jewelry supply shop, but here's a link to the brand I use: http://www.blitzinc.net/product/654/Gem_Jewelry_Cleaner_Concentrate__1_Gallon.html This stuff is brutally strong stuff and will actually remove plated metals from their underlying metals if you aren't careful. Mix ...

No need to soak it, just fill it up, dump in the parts, turn it on and let it run until they're clean. Rinse with water when done. I've cleaned jewelry in ammonia, but not AB parts. Should work just fine, though. I use a commercial grade jewelry cleaner, and it's so strong it'll actually take dried ...

AB= airbrush. I run jewelry cleaner in mine. Be advised, if you go this route and forget the parts in the tank, the chrome will come off the parts in about 24 hours. For the ultimate clean in the shortest amount of time, jewelry cleaner is the best. A good ammonia and water mix works well, especiall...

As for sand, again SmoothOn has a filler like that. The stuff I used when doing the big Ferengi Pods is called Ure-Fil 3. Looks like coarse white sand. 5 Gallon bucket is pretty cheap, too. It thickens the resin as you add it (not too too bad) obviously, but it didn't seem to stop it from setting up...

Smooth On makes metallic fillers that look great when used. I've used some of them and they always turn out great, but you have to use the right resin and enough of the filler for it to look right. I'm sure you could probably polish it once set up, but for it to make a difference you'd have to add a...

You could try a heating gun, but you have to be really careful if you do. You could burn the resin or yourself if you're not careful. Heat only the bent area, make sure you have on heat gloves, do minute rebends until it's right. The biggest problem I've had doing this is heating too big of an area ...

Pat, I bought one of the Revolutions, and didn't like it at all. I ended up selling it. BUT, I've been using a Eclipse that I've borrow from the MadKlingon and so far it's been a pretty good airbrush. Not as much control IMO as a SOTAR, the trigger throw is too abrupt, but close. It is pretty picky ...

As it says on the can, Smooth On Crystal Clear 200's mix is 100 side A to 90 side B by weight, not 1 to 1. ALL of the Crystal Clear series resins are 100 to 90 mix. Mix them 1 to 1 and you will always get sticky casts that will remain sticky for a very long time, sometimes forever. It's VERY sensiti...
