Sealing decals, am I missing anything?
With a flat paint I: -Paint over base coat with one or two coats of Future. -Apply decals using Micro Set (I think, it's the blue one) before decals, and then Solvaset after. -After decals dry, seal with one or two more coats Future -Paint with dull coat With gloss paint I have been: -Apply decals d...

Need to remove tape adhesive from paint job
I used some of 3M's painting tape (the blue stuff, supposed to be their lowest tack) over a gloss white spray painted surface (Testors). Apparently it is not as low tack as I thought as it left behind quite a bit of residue when I pulled it off. The paint still looks good under it. Is there any way ...

Assemble first or decal first?
I am currently working several of the AMT Star Trek cadet kits. The instructions state: "...it can be extremely advantageous to apply paint and decals to sub-assemblies before completing final assembly." With my first couple of models I fully assembled them, then painted and decaled them. ...

Base Coat Colors For Cadet Series Enterprises?
Finished the D recently, which I airbrushed light ghost gray which I am happy with. Now trying to complete the others, TOS, A, B, C, and E, as well as the Reliant. I will probably be using rattle cans on the rest. If you've built these, what colors did you use? I know what the directions recommend a...

Brush painting small, irregularly shaped details?
I am working a 1/2500 model of the Enterprise C. Now that I have done the base coat, I need to paint a few details. I attempted to do so with a very tiny brush, but try as I might, it's hard for me to stay in the "lines". You can see my work at the link below. http://www.flickr.com/photos/...

How long should I wait before painting details on base coat?
I have spray painted the Round 2 Cadet Enterprise C with Testors gloss white. Although many of the details are taken care of with the decals, there are a few places that can be painted. I plan to brush paint the details in these areas. How long should I let the base coat of gloss white dry before pa...
