Re: Tips on Tamiya XF-86 flat clear and X-22 gloss clear?

I'm looking for recommendations on thinner ratio and PSI for the Tamiya clears. Generally I thin Tamiya acrylic paint 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner and spray about 18 psi. But people are suggesting thinning the clears 50/50 or even 20/80 (paint to thinner). Any suggestions on using these? Here I ...

Re: Total reboot, choice of paints?

Thank you. I have already come to appreciate the less toxic clean up with the chosen acrylics and so far results are decent. They are also readily available not too far from here.

Re: Total reboot, choice of paints?

But this was about the paint. It has been a while since I regularly frequented any hobby shop but I took a trip to have a look around. Where I lived 15 years ago there are (where) two shops, one dedicated hoppy shop and one that was more like a section of a larger toy shop. The former is still there...

Re: Total reboot, choice of paints?

As per the "post your workbench" thread, it is done I had to go through two stores to find the connectors I needed, It seems there are now two sizes of airline connector on airbrushes today? This one was 1/8'' but a cheaper one as well as my old ones are much smaller. For the time being I ...

Re: Total reboot, choice of paints?

The compressor is sized for minor work on my cars, or I would be looking at some bench model for this application. I have found a wall mounted regulator/trap combo that I will be looking at in the next few days.

Re: Total reboot, choice of paints?

I have a 400V compressor with a 50 liter air tank in a different part af the basement, my plan is to put in a permanent air line from there to the build bench. A regulator (for fine tuning) and a moisture trap at the bench sounds like a plan.

Re: Total reboot, choice of paints?

Thanks. I dont't intend to leave it uncleaned off course. :D (This is where I try not to think to much about that time I lended someone my airbrush as I was never using it anyway and it came back full of car primer...) One other thing I thought of today, is it critical to have a moisture trap for th...

[Polite expression of gratitude for taking the time to reply] There is a certain stash that says "No" to that, and is also in great part the cause of the initial question.

Total reboot, choice of paints?

Were you to start everything over again from scratch, what paints would you use? I haven't held a paint brush for almost 20 years but now I have for the first time ever something that is starting to maybe look lika a workshop, or at least an honest build area. All my experince is with the Humbrol ca...

I haven't been following this upgrade too closely, will inline images be stored on SSM server (optionally?)?

Ditched last weeks center pod for a new one. Not looking very impressive so far but I have some ideas. Also, I have begun exploring some potential armament . One launch station would go on the Spitfire wing on either side of the senter pod. Some of these could be considered AFV parts though. A verdi...

Anti machine missile hover craft. I think.

Proceeding at a pace that would embarras a glacier, I give to you the center hull of the... thing... that no longer bears any resemlance to what I originally envisioned. Needs a different name now. Two air craft fuselage halves put together the wrong way, any guess what air craft? It does look a bit...

Thanks! Applying a bit of google-fu I found an entry on amazon . Reading the product descrition now I remember it from the box but I do not remeber a whopping nine sprues, not too sure about the box art either. If that is true I should have more sprues (found two complete) hidden away somewhere, two...

Ok, so it's still twin hull but I have no idea where I'm going with this now...

I'm thinking maybe the el cheap-o Strato's kit body from my dormant Post Apocalyptic Road Rally entry (and using the Hasegawa kit for PARR, if I'm getting back on with that) for the cabin area, Falke style.

Yeah, but it looks like fun and could go places a heli could not.

With a range of 50km it's not quite as bad as say the jet packs of the same era.

MARakeSch (New name, was Gepäckträger)

I've been looking to the Norwegian Skjold class patrol boat as well as our own HMS Smyge and a little bit of the proposed Combat Boat "New" for inspiration. Both Skjold and Smyge are side wall hovercraft, creating a cusion of air under a catamaran hull. This and their general shape will be...
