I was just in the Edmonton active electronics store today, and I'm 99% sure I saw a wrap tool in there.
I didn't see it on their site however, so maybe give them a call?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep them in mind for other electronics needs.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I also want to send out a public 'thank you' to Sparky for going the extra mile in helping me out. He managed to locate a tool at RS near him, and sent it to me. Thanks so much Sparky!

Thanks guys. Still no tool... My folks went down to the US on vacation, so I asked them to pick me up one of those wire wrapping tools at a Radio Shack down there. They went into a San Diego Radio Shack store the other day. No wire wrapping tool in stock. So the salesperson did a search of Radio Sha...

Canadian Source for Electronics?

'Radio Shack' in the US won't ship to Canada, and 'The Source' (the new name of Radio Shack Canada), is getting out of carrying many electronics items they used to carry when they were Radio Shack. Example: Right now I'm looking for one of the wire wrapping tools that the MadMan Lighting kits requir...

Thanks guys! Up in Canada all of our Radio Shack stores became 'The Source' stores, and the one's I've been in aren't as well stocked with electronics as they used to be in the old days. That's where the guy told me he didn't know what a mic connector was. They don't have much. So I may need to buy ...

Building and Attaching a Custom Stand

I've read a few comments that some people use a 'mic connector' built into their model to attach it to a stand. A custom stand is something I want to learn how to build and attach. I've tried to find some mic connectors, but our local electronics store salesperson didn't know what they were even. I'...

Thanks Madman Lighting! That StarFury is fantastic, and those pics of the lighting setup are extremely helpful. I've definately got to grab one of those kits to get me started.

Fantastic suggestions guys. Thanks so much. TShark, I'm definately going to pick up those items you suggested. That one site has a tonne of interesting kits I'd like to try. The kit that transmits voice over fiber seems like a cool thing to put together with my daughter. Also, learning to splice fib...

Noob Question Re: Lighting & Build Process

I've lit a few models in the past, but we're talking 1970's here... when I was 10-13 yrs old. I'm re-discovering model building again after many years away from the hobby. In the old days, fibre optics were ultra pricy and hard to find. LEDs were almost a foreign concept. Except that my wristwatch a...
