Sounds like a plan Blap. Finishing is my weak area. :( Send Kit#2 to NX-17000, and he can have it for June/July/August, and I'll take it for August/September/October. By then we'll know if I send it to Timescape or Mottom. But I think having you have it for finishing is the best plan for now. I am ...

Griffon Model produces brass rod down to 0.3mm OD with 0.1mm ID.

http://www.griffonmodel.com/product.asp?classid=71

For 0.032" (0.8272mm), you can use GCP-BHP10 (1.3mm OD, 0.94mm ID), about two-thirds down the listing.

I threw in all the parts (except a 1/72 Tornado - as I only had one) for him to replicate what I did, if he chooses. I'm sure a 1/72 F-18 or maybe an F-15 could serve the same purpose. I have a partially built Tornado I could send along if required; but it only has one fin... I know in space you do...

Looking good, John. The wing (fin?) tip looks odd cantering off to one side. Thiniking it needs an opposite or even a "hinge" to make it appear as a control surface. I can see pylons and weapons cascading down the fin; not elegant but typical militarizing of a civilian vehicle... Are we co...

I used to just use the first light colour as my "primer" coat. Worked fine as long as I was using enamels. Problems arose when I started using more acrylics, they had more difficulty sticking to the plastic.

The problem with the donor kit is there is very little vertical with the P-38, even the vertical stabilizer/rudder are not very tall... BTW forgot to mention what POS the kit is. Not designed for the gear bays or the gun bay to be closed up. Thus, thin mating surfaces and large gaps to fill. Gap fil...

Hey Blappy, I have been duplicating (ish) in parallel the build with the P-38 I had in my parts bin, although I am missing two critical pieces to complete properly: the port gun bay cover and the stbd nacelle face. If you are using an airbrush, pump up the air pressure. I've had some success at 30psi when spraying semi-gloss black, it comes out with a nice flat sheen. It is one of my favorite techniques when painting instrument panels. Of course I did it with flat black once and no amount of gloss coating pull...
