Re: Stripping "chrome" off model pieces

Thanks for all the replies you guys. After 2 days I'm seeing some small amount of progress, so perhaps I'll leave it in there (since the bleach is already "used"). I'm using Clorox, the only kind I could find at Costco Business Center. Is there a better bleach? And how can you tell? And ye...

Stripping "chrome" off model pieces

Currently I'm trying to strip the "chrome" off an old AMT 1:2500 Enterprise-D. The pieces have been sitting in bleach for a few hours now, and I'm not seeing much progress. The bleach is fresh, bought it just after Christmas. Is this a relatively quick process, or should I expect it to tak...

Well since Weldene seems to be no more, I'll have to try other glues. I'll put Limonene on my list of hobby stuff to get.
Thanks.

Plastruct Weldene

I've been trying to find Plastruct Weldene for some time now, with no luck. I liked the fact that it was non-toxic and didn't evaporate quickly, allowing some "fiddle time" with the kit pieces. Does anyone know for certain if it was discontinued? And if so, what other product will be both ...

Thank goodness you're back...

I was going through withdrawls (okay, not really).
Actually considered going back to Hobbytalk to post stuff, good thing I didn't have to do that.
I even checked in at All Scale Trek (hadn't been there in months) and found nothing new. They didn't even have a post on the new 1:1000 Defiant.

The one size I'm looking for is 1/2" diameter tube and 5" outer diameter. I thought I'd use it to connect the radial arms of my K-7 station kitbash. The other would be more of a flattened tube 1/4" high 1" wide and 5" outer diameter. Similar to the ring booster on the Finemo...

Help with Torus shapes.

I'd like to get my hands on a couple different torus shapes for a couple of kits, but I have no idea how to get them. Is there a place that makes torus for sale? If not, can I make one, easily? I could make a 3D torus very easily, but it would be pricey to print it on Shapeways. I've searched on Sha...
