I would use Duplicolor Self Etching primer. You can get it at any automotive parts store in the paint section.

I agree with Blappy. Degas your molds rather than pressure cast. Use a vacuum chamber to degas the silicon first. Then pour into the mold box and the degas the molds in the pressure chamber. After that, you can pressure cast your parts.

I does sound like you did not mix the first batch well. I have had it do the same thing. Also, the color match will tend to have air bubbles in it unless you have degased your molds and are pressure casting.

You can use it to sculpt a master. Make sure you seal it and then put a skin layer of of some kind. I use Aves Apoxie Sculpt. You can try Bondo Body filler, but I am not sure how it would react to the foam. Don't use the spot putty. That will eat the foam. You may need to test the bondo as well. You...

If you have a heat lamp, that would heat the model evenly and allow you to gently move the bent section into place.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link Vader. I'll definately do some studying of this before I start. Does the Oberth have an Aztek pattern? I've never noticed it in any pics. I may even light it, but that will be a new thing too, so I don't know yet. Keep the good advice coming! I don't believe that it does. Let me...

Heating the molds is a must with CC. One question is, do you need absoulute clear parts (for which you should be pressure casting) or do you need translucent? Are you pigmenting the parts (adding color). If so, you can use Smooth On color match 325. When pressure cast it is very translucent. Not cry...

I would be very wary(even scared) to use a PVC chamber as a pressure pot. I shattered a 12" diameter 1/2" thick clear plexiglass piece over my vacuum chamber... Thats 15psi maximum... :| This one was specifically designed for high pressure. It is the same material used for some undergroun...

Bert, Another question is is it going to be rotocast so it is able to be lit or will it be a squish mold, etc. Or is it going to be a slushed (my definition for essentially pouring and titlting the mold to get a surface layer all over), which I would not recommend due to potential thin spots. Rotoca...

:smoke: Smoke 'em if you got 'em. I got a 2.5 gallon Pressure pot from harbor Freight. It is the Speedair. I have yet to test it, but it should work fine. Limited by the size 7 inches inner diameter by 9 inches tall. So it will also depend on size of the molds you plan to use. I also got a PVC tank ...

Go to you local auto store and look for Bondo Glazing & Spot putty in the body repair/auto paint section. It is usually in a red and black tube. Make sure you get the one that is ready to go from the tube and not the one that you have to add the hardener to. It is similar to using Squadron Green...

I concur with modelbase guy. You can use it, though I woul sonly use it for small molds. And yes, you MUST use a release agent or it will stick. You may want to try Smooth-on's OOMOO 25 or 30. Get a trial kit for $22. Youc an get several molds out of a trial kit.

Spray the interior black first. Then use aluminum duct work tape (for AC units). It is really good reflecting light.

You can change the connection so it is hooked up to a 9V AC Adapter. It just takes some splicing.

I get my resin casting products from: www.smoothon.com The gallon polyurethan is about $68. For the mold making RTV, you need to decide if you want a 10:1 ratio or a 1:1 ratio. 10:1 is cheaper (but it is still expensive) than 1:1. The last batch of RTV I got was 1 Gallon supply 10:1 ratio. This requ...
