"Zep" for paint removal??

Post by killercurt »

I've read bonediggers review of paint removers. I'm having trouble finding that "castrol super clean "( even under it's new name) although i haven't looked everywhere only advance auto parts, k-mart and a couple grocery stores. I did have easy-off and tried it on a red painted helo and got 50%ish off on the first app. My real ? is has anyone tried "Zep Industrial purple cleaner and degreaser" ? It sounds like it might be the same kind of stuff that CSC is? The bottle I have happens to be a 5-1 concentrate. Is this stuff just gonna melt the model or what?

From the MSDS:

Looks like just the ticket for stripping paint- an unholy combination of lye, as in Easy-Off and butoxyethanol like Super Clean. Just to be safe, try it on something you don't really care about first.

I also looked through one of your posts and found this stuff on your list. I have a couple of small pieces soaking now (been about an hour) and its starting to soften up.
