Paint Thinner

I have a question regarding paint thinner.I bought some from the hardware store,i usually buy Testors paint thinner in the big bottles but i had to go to the hardware store for some supplies and picked up some gallon containers that were on sale real cheap.I figuerd trhe gallon containers will last longer and be cheaper in the long run than the Testors big bottles.It seems i always use alot to clean my brushes when i paint with bottle paint detailing.What i want to know will this paint thinner i bought be compatible with most bottle paints preferable Testors brand paint or other bottle paints???. I just want someones advice on this.To me if i can save money on thinner by buying the gallon containers versus the Testors brand big bottles of thinner,I will start useing this other thinner from now on.Any advice or help would be appreciated on this.Thanks DAVID BAILEY.

If you're using Testors Enamel, then yes

Go ahead and buy the gallon cans of "Mineral Spirits" - that's what I use to thin my enamel paints for either brushing or air-brush work

I just bought my first house, and have much painting to do inside and out. Don't want to dump paint or thinner down the drains (although we have a private septic tank) and we have dogs, so dumping outside is not an option. So what does everyone else do with paint covered brushes, rollers, and used paint thinner?

I always just pitch the tools into the trash and leave the contaminated thinner outside for a few days and it evaporates out, leaving the dried gunk in the pail. Then I pitch the pail. Put it somewhere the dogs won't get into it and make a mess. Paint thinner into a septic tank is a bad idea! Whenever I've been forced (kicking and screaming) to do household painting, I use water-based paint everywhere I can and only use oil paint where absolutely necessary.
