UK Supplier for Fiber Optic Cable

Post by steve_jones »

Im going to be starting work on a new Star Destroyer project which I am going to be lighting.

Does anyone have any good contacts in the UK for getting Fiber optic cable, I probably want .50mm unjacketed stuff, last time I did a project I got some from Maplins, but they have stopped stocking it now,

I have found a few sights in the US, but shipping seems a little pricy !!

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

Thanks in advance

I get mine from W. Hobby's. They do 3.5m long strands in 0.25, 0,5, .75, 1.0 & 1.5mm diameters.

Also try the discount shops and pound shops for those cheap fibre-optic lamps - they're a good source of thin-strand fibres.
