Hi
I wanna light my Red 6 engines and I have some super bright LEDs but they're white. I seem to remember some folks using red gels and maybe tin foil inside the engines? Would regular 'DJ light' red gels work or is there a better solution? I searched all through the forum and can't find anything on the subject.
Thanks a lot
Scott.
Correct red gels for X-wing engines?

I think I saw this talked about on the RPF. Let me do some looking for you.
From what I know, the engines were regular bulbs with red gel over the heatsinks center. This gave the engines a red center with a ring of white showing thru the fins. I attempted this on my Salzo V2. I used white LEDs and red plastic from a PL funny car kit. I did not like the effect and went with four 10mm super bright red LEDs for my engines. You may get a better effect if you use grain of wheat bulbs or something similar as they will give more side light.
