Gluing metal to plastic?

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

Gluing metal to plastic?

Post by Gauge »

I want to add some details to a vinyl kit that are made of metal, should I use regular CA?

Personally, I hate CA in almost every incarnation, so I use epoxy for this sort of thing.

Same here- Epoxy is best for that sort of thing. CA sticks well but has no strength - it can pop to dust with any flexing/pressure.

Metal to vinyl? Epoxy is probably your best bet. CA tends to have issues adhering to vinyl.

I also suggest that you pin it as well. this will add to the stabilty of the bond. if the vinyl is filled with foam or plaster that is even batter.

Cheers,
