Should I dullcote my Battlestar?

Post by Matt1982 »

I am debating whether or not to dullcote my Battlestar. I painted it with a darker silver metallic enamel paint It just seems a little TOO shiny. If I dullcote it, will it completely destroy all metallic tones? I just want to tone it down a little bit.

Here is a picture without and with a flash (the flash seems to exaggerate its shininess)

You may want to give it a satin finish. Mix something like 20% dull with gloss. I've done this with Gunze Sangyo flat and Future. I know what you mean, you want to take some of the shine off the model, but don't want it to be dull.

That said, dull does look more "scale" than shiny - usually.
