Converting Bulbs to LED on Enterprise A Kit

I did do a search and didn't see anything so I apologize if this has already been covered.

I got the "light and sound" Enterprise A AMT/ERTL kit. The kit is fairly old but still works great, but for a better effect/longer lasting, I was wondering if anybody knew/has converted the bulbs to LED's or was able to add LED's to the current system?

A matter of switching out or putting in resistors?

Calculate the resistors based on whatever you are using for a power supply. Just swap the led+resistor for the light bulb. Be careful to get the polarity right. If the led polarity is wrong, nothing permanently bad will happen. It just won't light up.
