Help on buying a airbrush compressor

Post by Doc1234 »

Hi,

I am looking at buying one of two compressors and I am wondering if there is a general consensus as to which one is best toi buy. I will be using a Badger 360 sirbrush.

The first is:

The Aztek AC 200 Compressor is equipped with a pressure gauge and moisture trap that reliably removes all condesation generated by the process of mechanically compressing air. It is the only compressor in its price range that includes a moisture trap.

Features

•Pressure gauge
•Moisture trap
•Oil-less operation
•Fan cooling
•Automatic thermal protector switch
•Rubber suction feet
•25 psi under load
•10,000 hr. service life
•2 year warranty
•On/Off switch
•120v 60Hz

The second is:

The new AC500 is the perfect compressor for the person who uses their airbrush all day long. Specially designed for the person who airbrushes for a living, an artist or an avid modeler, the AC 500 delivers non-stop performance. The AC 500 has an automatic pressure on/off switch, which allows the unit to maintain an even constant pressure, thus eliminating irritating pulsing will spraying fine lines or small details. If you have been looking for a compressor that is both quiet and reliable, than the new AC 500 is the compressor for you.

•Pressure regulator with gauge
•Auto pressure shut off
•Airtank with water drain
•60 PSI (Max)
•.6 CFM @ 20 PSI
•1/8 Horsepower
•1/4” NPT Airhose fitting
•Oil-less operation
•Fan cooled
•2 year warranty

As I am new at this I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

A combo moisture trap/regulator (a good one) runs $30-40.

At the range you're looking, you can also include some of the quieter running Iwata compressors.

I've been using the 200 for a bit over a year now with no problem. It's pretty nice. I have a Senco 1010, which worked great but there's some problem with the switch. I replaced it, and it still has the same issue.

When I won an Aztek 200 I was pretty happy.
