Airbrush question

Post by Callandor »

I just bought an Paasche external mix airbrush and I was wanting to know what psi works best with Model Master acrylics? Also, what tips work best, especially for large area coating?

You want to thin them just a bit (a little bit). I use a combination of alcohol and distilled water. And a drop or two of acrylic retarder (available at art supply stores) to help prevent the paint from drying in the air.

14-18 psi is a good place to start experimenting. If you have problems with flow, add more thinner. Acrylic paints tend to 'dry in the air', get orange peel, etc. Using thicker paint and higher psi tends to increase those problems.

So...lower psi....more thinner (if problems, but the model master acryl really doesn't need much thinner).
