Can U (Frost an LED)?

I have a hot spot from the blue led for my deflector dish. I have frosted the dish and this helped but I still have a little hot spot. Has any one ever tried frosting a LED?

Sure you can frost it but I don't know if it will give you the desired effect

Can you put more resistor on the LED and knock down its intensity a little? How about moving it a little further back from the dish so that the light disperses more evenly across the surface? Just throwin' out ideas...

Try filling the area behind the dish (around the LED) with a dispersive material like fiberfill, teased cotton balls, or tissue.

Alternatively, make a bowl-shaped area behind the dish out of aluminum foil. Then insert the LED through the center of the bowl, facing backwards, so its light faces toward the bowl itself.

You could always try vanilla frosting......................

Seriously though, you can try sanding the LED with fine grit sandpaper or a sanding stick. Also, good ole' wax paper works good to for diffusing LEDs.

Don't forget to sand the lenses off too, most LEDs are built with a lenses on the front to direct more of its light forward.
