Making clear plastic frosted

hello all,

so how do you turn a clear plastic piece into a frosted glass look piece?

More forgiving - Spray some clear acrylic flat on the backside

Less forgiving- Sand the backside with fine wet-or-dry sandpaper

In addition to CA vapor, dullcote and sandpaper, PlastKoyte do a frosted spray - I've not tried it yet but I have something in mind.

Cheap hairspray!

If you don't like the look it washes off with water, you can also use it to seal the weathering done with pastels, and remove magic marker from most surfaces.

If you get the purple Aussie can stuff ( the ones with the Kangaroo in the comercial) it even has a nice grape scent.

Actually, that is not a bad idea, but here is how the police do it to get finger prints off of a surface when they don't know where it is...

cover the item in a plastic tent
place a tray of superglue in bottom of tent
add tin foil, or oxidization element to the superglue
wait two hours
remove from tent
if you are not removing finger prints, wait for the superglue to dry

You may want to mask any area off that you do not want a thin film of superglue gas to expose. A thin layer of condensated CA gas will evenly spread across anything inside the tent. I do not recommend this method for your use, but it is possible.

This was not on purpose, I didn't know it would do that, so I use "dirt" to help cover my mistake.

I found that a combo of fine sanding and frost coat gave a perfect dispersal of light for the project I was working on when I posted this, as opposed to just the frost coat on my latest project it is far superior
