Post by Draven 2 »

Hello,

Since they stopped making Dr.Micro tools red putty...( which was Great putty) What putty should be used that's as Good? I have tried to use Squadron Green, and found that I don't care for it very much. and found after a while it breaks and falls back off. Plus has a shrinking problem while curing.
What putty is best to use?

Not looking for epoxy putty, I hate the stuff. it's hard to mix, and impossible to work with. I'm looking for putty! to fill seams, and scratches, and dents.

Then you haven't tried Aves...

Head out to a automotive bodyshop & pick up some polyester glazing putty.

It's what Dr.Micro tools red putty was in the first place...

Hi Draven 2,

I stopped using solvent based putties when I started using Aves.

Many people believe 3M's Acryl series of automotive putties are the best. Unfortunately they're only sold in big expensive tubes. Tamiya and Gunze make good solvent based putties too.

I'm a long time user and fan of 3M Acryl Blue. It applies nicely and can be polished to a glass smooth finish. I have a 3 pound tube that I have been using for the past 25 years. It's still good and still works.

Great stuff.

I can't say it enough. This stuff is the best putty you'll ever use. It's epoxy, but it is extremely forgiving, nice and soft to work with, it thins with water and alcohol, and it has nearly the same hardness as styrene when it sets. I don't believe it has *any* bad qualities at all.

It doesn't taste as good as it smells ....

Not that that's a really bad thing, but it's not a good thing either, so ...

J/K! It's delish!
