Mass Effect Normandy

Post by Zal »

Just curious if anyone has attempted to build either of the 2 ships?

Mass Effect has excellent art direction & execution. I intensely (yet I understand, different strokes for different folks) hated the game play. Sorry, can't help you. Still, kewl looking ships.

Neither ship looks like they would be too hard to build, I just have too many SW projects to do a non SW ship! I love both games though.

I know this is an old thread and all but thought I would reply anyway.

I am at the thinking through stage of building the SR2. Just getting it all sorted in my head before I take the plunge. This is my first build and as Sluis said above the SR2 doesn't look to be too challenging.

Not to plug Ed's models for him... :D

The subject of the post is the SR-2.

Patterns are being created ( slowly ) for a 16 inch ( approx. ) SR-2.

PM me with your E-Mail and I'll shoot you a pic of the kit parts.
I've gotten his SR-1 and it's a nice kit. Painting has always been my weakest skill, and that's what is delaying my completing this model. When he has the SR-2 kitted, I'll likely get that as well. Unless I get all crazy and just scratchbuild one...

How do you create the patterns for your kits - I guess you would be using a CAD app to actually draw it, but how do you determine measurements?

I'm lucky because I'm using a scaled plan drawing that gives me four different views of the ship, I've blown the plan up to A2 size which will give a total length of 530mm. Not too big and not too small for my sausage like fingers :D

I have a certain ( anonamous ) friend with some super fine 3D meshes which I can refer to...other than that...I just picked a good "Shelf Scale "

Yeah I see what you mean - if I tried that I just know I would get it wrong.

I'm also an Eve online player - I wish there was some sort of size scaling forthcoming from the developers for their ships - especially the capital sized ships.

Mako is on its way too with the Normandy Sr-1 ( I'll be doing a review for it soon )..and the Normandy Sr-2 ( I will hopefully start wrapping up the 3d mesh for my portion of that shortly after the 15th of this month)

There, now it's all out in the open :D

The 1:35 mako will be available end of July..test castings have been done on all parts but the hull and the gun (still a bit of tweeking to be done on those 2 parts ) ..the SR-1 kit is now ( still ) available...and the SR-2 is coming soon(ish).

From the looks of the test pieces...it's gonna be a "Hum-Dinger" !

After that...Hmm....all I'll say is....keep watching kiddies...there's more to come

If these are still available I would very much be interested in an SR-1 and possibly a Mako.

Drop me a line perhaps?

FYI... the SR-1 kit is still available
The Mako is being cast and will be available as soon as I can get some decals run. ( Al Wong is currently working up the artwork for decals )

The 1:350 SR-2 is still an on-going project I'm hoping to have available before end of the year ( stay tuned for more )

I'm very much interested in procuring both the SR1 & SR2 (when it becomes available). I have sent you a PM with an enquiry. I hope to hear from you soon.
