Question- anyone try to scratch the NX Bridge?

Post by kryptosdaddy »

Or any other bridge except the classic! ---I think this belongs here since its going to be completely fabricated, I'm not trying this, but I'm curious if anyone else has, love to see the work.

I didn't, but go check out zealot.com and their sci-fi forum. There is discussion and pointers to a bunch of card models of the Enterprise-D and Enterprise-E bridges. If you actually want to build these bridges, you'll likely need to buy them by way of e-bay, but to answer your question, it has been done.

I began with the Ent-E´s Bridge a while ago but I got stuck somehow and have not yet finished it. It still stands on my work-desk screaming "complete me!" every day ^^
Scale is 1/24th, and it includes Picard´s Ready room and the observation lounge.

There's a couple of members over at the Replica Prop Forum's General Modeling section that have been working on replicas of the classic bridge.

Glorbes' TOS Bridge Build (Scaled to Diamond Select Figures): http://www.thereplicapropforum.com/f11/ ... es-123844/

Atlanthia's TOS Bridge Build (almost the same size as Glorbes): http://www.thereplicapropforum.com/f11/ ... -a-137996/

Over at Figure Realm, someone also did a TNG bridge for the TNG Action Figures out of cardboard, foam, hot glue and plaster: http://www.figurerealm.com/viewcustomfi ... ?FID=35006

BTW, before I go into a different tirade, but excellent work dude! I love these kind of in progress shots.

I have this theory that there are lots of scratchbuilds out there that end up sitting on desks, workbenches, or shelves that are gathering dusk, not because the project is unworthy, but because the modeler in question has suffered burn out and is waiting for re-inspiriation to finish it.

I personally have a USS Thunderchild, a Delta Flyer, a USS Belknap, and a USS Avenger (an Avenger -- see Ships of the Star Fleet vol. 1b, its not a Reliant) in final stages of construction. I also have an accurate K'Tinga at %50 complete also begging me to finish it.

Nothing wrong with burn out. What frustrates me is that the Delta Flyer is about 90% complete, and I should just grit my teeth and finish it. Problem is, I got this idea that it should have an interior, ala an Aurora models kit, but I ran into the roadblock, that the Delta Flyer interior sets do not fit inside the same scale exterior FX miniature (you'd think the CGI guys and the interior set designers could have traded blue prints, but NO!!). I should give up the interior idea, make a couple of landing legs, and call it good, but haven't gotten there yet.

You could just wing it with the interior, be creative.
Currently building: 1:2500 Prolemy Tug/Freighter and Finish painting Gold 2 X-wing from box scale ERTL X-wing based on XW Alliance game. See website for progress.

Ambitious little build there.
