1:2500 Enterprise D Paint Question

Okay the kit is molded in light blue which is one of the ships colours but the instructions state "The kit is molded in the correct base colour but if you desire to paint your model the base colour is light grey" Anybody done this kit? what colour did you use?

I would go with the light blue, some how that light blue plastic dosent look right

Andy Probert designed the D in a mix of duck egg blue and sky blue panels, FS-24516 and FS-15526:

close Testors out-of-the-bottle matches are:

RLM76 for the blue

RLM 84 or British Sky Type S for the green

RLM 02 greengray for the phaser collimator strips

If you are not paneling individually in that scale, you could mix a hull shade with a bit more blue than green.
What are we running here, Number One- a cadet ship?
