Here's my 'end of session may not get to it for weeks' cleaning.

1-Dump excess paint.
2-Fill cup with lacquer thinner.
3-Spray while wiping bowl with q-tip.
4-Refil and spray.
5-Wipe nozzle down with lacquer thinner soaked q-tip (a clean on not the one you used to wipe the bowl).
6-Repeat 2 through 5 twice more always using a clean q-tip.
7- hang up brush.

Between colors if I'm using acrylics I just a few cups of acrylic cleaner (i.e. Windex).

I do the same. How ever before I pull it apart I run some paint thiner through it. And once apart I I use pipe cleaner to clean it.

Pipe cleaners can leave fiber residue that can clog things up. Just as a note.

I'll run it through a sonic cleaner.

As a note, the Iwata airbrush cleaning station is really handy for blowing out your brush and even storing it if need be.

I had one gum up on me before just using thinner, so I'm just a little paranoid now to jam this one up

Thinking of getting an HPLV mini spray gun for large models, base coats and the like. Anyone here use one of those, or have experience with them?

Hi Chas,

I've never used one but a lot of serious car modelers use automotive touch-up guns on their models.

Paul Budzik has at least one video on automotive spray guns for models.
