Cutting 15mm dia Clear Acrylic tubing - help!

Post by WildHouseModels »

Hi Guys,

Anyone know how to cut clear acrylic tubing safely with minimal damage to the tube? I have 15mm tube with 1mm thickness and need to make a clean cut - would you try and use a Dremmel or have the tubing laser cut?

I need lengths of around 55mm....

Run your knife around the tube a few times scoring it. Then flex it at that mark, should snap off clean. To be sure, measure long, and then sand the end smooth.

I know that's not what the instructions say, but the kit's wrong anyway.

Use a miter box and a modeller's razor saw.

Regardless of what tools you use, put masking tape around the tube to protect it. The tape will also help you keep your saw or knife from straying off target.
