Source for syphon feed tubing?

Post by Tommy8008 »

Any of you fine fellas know anywhere to get the tubing for a syphon feed airbrush?

I cut mine down too far as before it was too long and wouldn't spray anything, as it was sitting right on the bottom of the jar.

I do plan on getting a gravity feed one, when the Yule holidays are over and the car is sorted.

In the mean time, would this be of any use as an alternative?

That might work.

Another possibility is model airplane fuel line from the local hobby shop.

The big concern with anything you use is can it withstand solvents.

Never thought about that. I'll have a look when I'm next there, luckily there are 2 model shops within walking distance of each other.

Thanks.

if the tube was square with the bottom of the jar it might have formed a seal
preventing paint from going in.
try cutting off the end at an angle (45 degrees?) so that paint can go in.

Maybe just a piece of brass tube that fits snugly. I presume just buying a new cap at either of the hobby shops in cost prohibitive? Or maybe just buy a gravity cup that attaches to a siphon airbrush?
For 15 francs more, I can put a can of sardines on your chest.

Check the hardware store, they usually have fine tubing for a variety of things. If not there's always USPlastic

I cut it at 90 degrees. Stupid I know, but we live and learn.

I could get a new jar, £10.95 for 10 on ebay, but I would like a cheaper solution  .

Can you buy gravity cups for syphon feeds? That is in the UK, as I've never seen them before.

I'll have a look at screwfix, they are usually cheaper for hardware than B&Q and Homebase.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

Seconded, Mike. That's what I fixed my Paasche with years ago.

I'll have a little trip after Yule and see what they have in stock.

Cheers all.
