Hey guys abd gals, I gave a project that I'm working on. One that's pushing my boundaries way past their limit.
I've never copied really large or complex parts. So I've had to learn how to make two parts molds, and how not to make them, and what the differences in molding rubbers are.
What I'm doing is building the physical model of the local star trek clubs starship. I've been making molds of it in case one of the clubs members wants a copy for themselves. It's based off of the excelsior. So looong nacelles, a big saucer, and straight Pylons.
The new question is, for those of you that cast whole ships. Do you add some sort of support inside the nacelles and pylons so they don't sag after a while? If so what do you add? Is there something to stay away from? What about large saucer sections?
Any help would be awesome, thanks in advance.

Ugh models had piano wire in some models to support the nacelles.

I used brass tubing inside the nacelle struts.
