Using the Apollo landing kit make a diorama of the landing being filmed on a movie set.

Using the Enterprise Bridge kit show a scene being filmed.

Using existing kits what scenes from the movies or TV could you do being filmed?

Why stop there? Build the whole Desilu sound stage.

To do that it would have to be 1/350 in scale.

A Gate would be in the center of the dio side on, on one side we see the team running up the steps to the wormhole being chased by Velociraptors, close on their heals.

On the other side of the gate the first team member is coming face to face with a squad of Terminators.

I'd call it, "Out of the Frying pan, into the fire..."

That comic got to thinking about the comic I read as a kid: Dan Cooper and the Flying Saucers

It's originally one of those Belgian comics about a Canadian ace and his various aerospace adventures.

I'd never thought of comics as a diorama idea, but they do have many action packed scenes in those little rectangles...let alone the covers.

I do happen to have a Canadian F-104 in the stash...

Of course I'm sure you can find similar stuff for Dan Dare as well.

I just realized this week that a great project for me will be a model from each one of Heinlein's "juveniles" books. Some will be dioramas.

Rocket Ship Galileo (1947) - Well, the Galileo, of course. Pretty typical Golden Age cigar rocket, probably.
Space Cadet (1948) - Either the Patrol ship Aes Triplex or maybe the small rocket scooter they used to putt-putt from the school to the station.
Red Planet (1949) - An ice scooter diorama. The edition I read as a kid (Scribners'?) was illustrated, and as I remember it, the scooters were drawn as pretty much C-47s on skates. I have an old C-47 kit in the junkppile, so...
Farmer in the Sky (1950) - The spaceship was a torchship, of which see below. I could do a rock crusher, that has a detailed-but-not-limiting description, but... probably the "walker wagon" in a diorama.
Between Planets (1951) - The Venus Republic privateer Little David.
The Rolling Stones (also known as Space Family Stone, 1952) - Kinda gotta be the ship herself - the Rolling Stone.
Starman Jones (1953) - Gotta be the Asgard, which is another Heinlein torchship, a model of which I already have 90% complete and un-christened.
The Star Beast (1954) - Not many "things" in this one so it'll have to be a Lummox diorama.
Tunnel in the Sky (1955) - This is a tough one - almost no "things" in this one so probably a Rod figure at a gate diorama.
Time for the Stars (1956) - The least interesting of the juveniles (to me) and again, not many "things". The ship is yet another torchship, so... maybe one of the helicopters flying off the ship whilst it's landed in water diorama...? Ugh.
Citizen of the Galaxy (1957) - Either the Trader ship Sisu or, if I'm good enough with figures by then (whenever "then" is), Pop squatting with his bowl with Thorby by his side.
Have Space Suit—Will Travel (1958) - Kip's space suit Oscar, without a doubt.

That's... a big reach for a guy with middlin' talent like myself. But should be fun to try.

Anybody ever built one of the old Tonka Diorama kits. I recall admiring them as a kid 50y ago (uf...that's a long time). Never got one, not sure why. Possibly the artwork on Aurora and monogram boxes was just too enticing Looking at them now, they do appear like a fairly adept use of forced perspective to create a neat illusion. It was pretty handy to come with its own shadow box.
