It's working even faster than last night, an improvement. Here's hoping I didn't speak too soon.

Was checking the What's New page, and scrolling down, I came across this posted between 7/2 and 8/1.
A head's up: we'll be AFK from 3-15 August. The Store will be open, but nothing will ship 'till we get back,
So they went 'somewhere.' But that was almost two months ago... :-k

So the Marketplace got purged of old posts. Does anyone know if that is automatic?

It's been autmatically deleting for quite some time in the marketplace.

EVApodman wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 8:50 am Go to the other sites about the forum problems. they have a link that has fixed the 500 problem for most of us. The SQL error remains.
Not fixed, but there is a 'work-around' that has alleviated the problem.
etssp wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:59 am I found that using https instead of http seems to reduce the errors, but the server is a bit slow to respond.

https://www.starshipmodeler.net/talk/
The problem with that is, it's not fixed and anyone using the 'http' link will hit it and think the site is dead. Plus, since there is one 'at home' at SSM HQ, there's no one to approve new members, if we get any. :P
Just putting it here just in case one of the mods comes around can see that the newest topic in the forum is "no forum complaints"

It is still somewhat broken. It still looks like it is tied to database issues on the backend. The periodic 500 server error seems to be fixed if you maintain a secure "https" connection. Annoyingly though, I noticed that I can easily follow a link that breaks the https request. Supposedly browsers should maintain that automatically based on settings or clicking on the "lock" icon, but haven't gotten that to work yet. Should really look into it.

WE are back to where we were several months ago, first it was the lack of notifications and then the SQL error. Thankfully the 500 error has disappeared and I no longer have to click a dozen times each time I want to do something.

If a solution were offered, would there even be a way to implement it? None of us have any access to the backdoor stuff, and while I'm able to get help to fix the SQL issues, there's no way to implement any suggested fixes. But the frustrating thing is, this is a fixable issue...

Just lacking oversight. I do hope John and Linda are well, but the mystery of the whole thing, not just them disappearing but the mods as well... I think we are coasting into oblivion here, which is why I'm trying for a little more of a presence on AST. It seems to be a real nice alternative.

I really appreciate the support and would encourage other members to join ast. we have created an optional ssm section for you to try in addition to a sm group for you to join to keep track of all active ssm members.

speaking as a webmaster and PHP admin I will say this is very easy to fix with ssm but it does require someone with access to the backend to fix it

The weird thing for me is that John, Linda and Every Moderator seems to have totally disappeared about the same time with no explanation

Maybe the forum has been hacked. Anybody know who global moderator genejunk is? They were last logged on 13 July, after onezero and TER-OR on 12 July. genejunk only has 29 posts, all of which have expired. LindaSmile was last logged on 1 May.

Has anybody tried phoning John? His number should be +1 224 372 7428 according the web store.

Even if it was hacked there has been sufficient time to regain control or at very least post info about it on any of the subforums.

It has been five months like this

John's not dead/missing. Just ordered from the SM store last week.

So no one is bothered to phone John to find out what is happening? I'm in Australia with only landline access, so it costs me money to call the US. Should be cheaper for someone in the US with a mobile phone.

I tried it and kept getting a busy signal. Then again, myne has been having issues the last few weeks.

Can someone else try, in case something is wonky with my phone?

I don't know. In the old days people used to put the receiver beside the phone when they didn't want to be bothered.

Today the SSM forum is working okay. The pages load quickly.

Everything I tries on allscaletrek.com loads slowly then displays a blank white screen.

Has anyone tried contacting John through the store or on Facebook?
