pulsating airbrush

Hey,

I have a badger 155 with a 4 gallon compressor, and recently no matter what I do when Im shooting paint it sputters (pulsates).

I dont have a moister trap, but i have drained my compressor and pumped air through the hose to clean it out, along with completely cleaning the brush... but it still pulsates.

whats wrong?

It sounds like you need a pressure regulator. Do you have one installed?

yup, usually run it between 20-40 psi.

when I run straight paint thinner through it it sprays fine, but add any amount of paint and its no good.

Tear it down completely. You probably have a clog somewhere. I had my Aztek pulstating like that, it turned out to be a small piece of paint stuck in the spring.

It could also be the paint mix being too thick. Or moisture - a pressure regulator with a moisture trap fixes this.

But more likely it is a combination of all the problems in the above posts.
