Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

A "GOOD" local hardware store will have "wire numbered" drill bits.

A bad local hardware store will try to sell you what is on the shelf...

I need an 21/32nd inch drill bit.

Store guy: What size was that?

21/32nd inch.

Store guy: (picks up conversion chart) Hmm, thats an odd size,... It's pretty big too, you could get a 5/8" or 11/16th...

I didn't ask for those, I need an 21/32nd inch bit.

Store guy: The other two are only a fraction of an inch either way...

I need to run a 1/8"NPT tap and the tap calls for a 21/32nd inch bit. Don't offer me sizes I don't need...

Store guy: (looks at the wall display) Well here is 5/8th, and 11/16th...

I have seen the 5/8", and the 11/16th" bits, I asked you if there was a 21/32nd inch...

Store guy:Well if we had it, it would be right here...

(My friend pulls a 21/32nd inch bit from the "titanium coated" section down the aisle.)

Cool.
(I look at the Store guy) "Do you have any brass 1/8"NPT double ended male pipe fittings?....

Make sure you go to a "good" hardware store.

Hey Cappy NOVA,

Or, try www.micromark.com and search for item #26104 MICRO-SIZE DRILL BIT SET .

Those should do it?

My favorites... drill bits
Four sets for the price of one. Possibly slightly lower quality, but have you ever met someone who wore these things out before breaking or losing them?

...Or a credit card, or a debit card... Lee Valley Tools isn't a store, it's the modelmaker/craftsman's version of a crack house. And their catalogue is the craftsman's version of Victoria's Secret.

Best I've found anywhere. Much better fit if using fiber optics. Widget also has several standard #60-#80 bits. But I prefer metric.
