Compressor Vibration

Post by scanam2005 »

A technique that I use to reduce vibration and noise from a compresor is to place an old mouse pad under it. The compressor also works more efficiently when it isn't vibrating across the floor.

I used to use a thin rubber mat from the HW store, ones that are used to line tool-trays.

I use mine as a back masager.

Carpet seems to work fine on mine.

Once, in an attempt to reduce the vibration to 0 I suspensed my compressor under my work table via bungie cords.

Compressors put out a lotta torque. The spinning compressor ripped my airbrush out of my hands and proceded to beat it on the underside of the workbench. Then when I shut it off it spun the other way as the bungie cords released.

Lotsa fun.

Mousepads wok great if they fit, you can also get vibration dampening mats at hardware stores.

I just tie mine to the dog.

Actually, I just have enough hose that it's out in the garage..so I don't notice noise or vibration.

I used an old towel folded over a couple of times. Also useful to wipe off a regular brush when cleaning.
