Soyuz Solar Panels?

Post by Rob Owens »

Hey All, Have a 1/30 Soyuz (USSR produced) and would like to find a method for finishing the solar panels. From the few pics I have, they (individual cells) appear to be glossy medium blue. I was thinking of painting the whole panel aluminum, and dropping Tamiya clear blue on the individual cells. Yes? No? Maybe?
The instruction sheet is printed in cyrillic (which I can't read/translate), so for all I know, it may have correct colors already called out :?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. . .
Regards, Rob

I've done that over a chrome finish. It looks pretty good.

Hmm. Smoke over chrome might be an idea for American panels.

Doing the clear blue over the silver sounds like a good way to go.
