Gotta Mix to get Red Oxide...

Post by joey_d1119 »

or something close to it. I need to spray a thin coat of red oxide over a deflector dish so it looks redoxide when powered down. I was thinking of mixing red and copper. Sound good?

I know that's not what the instructions say, but the kit's wrong anyway.

I dont like not being able to control the pressure. Since I got the new airbrush painting is a dream. Besides, the spra can would be to think and if you did spray light it would not come out even.

You can decant the spray into a jar for airbrushing. Take the nozzle out of the trigger, put a straw in there, spray into a jar. Let it set a few minutes to outgas, thin if needed, and airbrush...

Tamiya makes a color called Hull Red. It's a pretty good rust color. then again, there's always Rust-colored paint from any manufacturer.

MM Acryl Rust. Thin it 20% with alcohol and your set.

Almost all of the airbrush ready paint from Comart or Golden include a red oxide. The Comart stuff works well, it is very thin coverage so you can build it up and it won't clog your airbrush.

I second that! The stuff really makes you want to bring out the sandpaper once it's dry...

IIRC, that's what I used on this tank.
