Salt weathering scrubber

Post by SnowCrash »

I read all the posts on weathering with salt to show chipped paint and they all say you should scrub off the painted over salt. What do you use to scrub the model with? A sponge? Steel wool?

Angle grinder.

I think Mr. Badwrench used a toothbrush on his Slave 1 that's in the gallery.

Be careful with the toothbrush, you can scratch the surface. I would wait 'till you put a fine layer of sealant like Future down.

Use a toothbrush. And yeah, you'll scratch the paint. That's part of the idea, the salt is supposed to scratch the paint up. So when you scrub it off, do so in the direction of the "airflow", or away from blast marks, etc.
I speak of the pompatous of plastic.

Maybe I just use too soft of a toothbrush. Never had much scratching issues.

Now the brass brush is another matter.
