Rustall. Looks like an amazing products.
But-
Where the hell do you get it? I've tried contacting the manufacturers via their website several times.
No luck...
Any ideas? Or a replacement product?

That is a tough one. Rustall contains alcohol, quite flamable.

Er, not sure where you'd get it down under.

Have you tried teh railroad shops like Barcourt?

Try soaking a bit of steel wool in water in a disposable container. Real rust!

how long does it take for a two-by-four-inch piece to completely rust? And is it true what I've heard that connecting a 9volt battery to the steel wool will make it rust faster?

Don't know about the nine-volt battery. I saved one of those big plastic soda cups with a lid from Wendy's. Filled it with a bit of water, stuck a piece of steel wool in it, then promptly forgot about it for a few weeks. When I stumbled across it, it had a nice layer of rusty gunk in the bottom.

Steel wool rusts quickly - you can even burn it. Like Romulan Spy said, soak it in some water and let it dry our for a week or two. You could probably use the rust directly, or mix it with a carrier like Future + a flat base, or a flat clear acrylic paint.

Another very messy option might be either black or red rouge, used to polish optics. It's very fine iron oxide and you're guaranteed a permanent (or almost permanent) stain with very little effort.
