Cracked canopy repair

PLEASE help...

I have a Halcyon Drop Ship with a cracked, snapped canopy.

What's the best way to fix this with the existing part?

CA will fog, clear tape looks funny. Will Elmers dry clear enough?

Elmers may dry clear, but it may also yellow with time.

Watch crystal glue won't yellow and will hold the parts together well. It's expensive, but great stuff.

I don't think you'll be able to completely eliminate the appearance of the crack, though.

It's all flat planes, so couldn't you just make up a new one with clear styrene? Any hobby shop should have the Evergreen clear in a couple of thicknesses. The sheets are huge relative to what you'd need, so you would have a lot to spare for mistakes.

I have some clear Evergreen, I'll give that a try.

Where can I get some of the Watch Crystal glue?

I have repaired cracks in clear parts on my apollo 1/32 CSM with future after using testors clear parts cement. when it cured I dipped it in future and the crack disappeard

Future can work, as can Tenax - but you'll need to buff afterward.

Thermoforming the part might be best - is it curved? I don't remember.

Put some future out in a well palette. Let it thicken overnight. USe it to join the pieces back together. Let it thougroughly cure. AFter they've joined, buff back to clear with a fingernail polishing kit from Wal-Mart. USe the colored ends wet, in exactly the sequence prescribed.

Failing that, Liquid cement and buff. But, this will require sanding before polishing.

Also, user completely clean water so there are no scratches.

Dip in Future and wick away the excess with a torn paper towel edge.

I'm finishing my APC these next couple days then I'm gonna go after the Drop Ship.

I'll post back with what I did and how well it worked.
