any tricks for making hollow 'shells'?

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

any tricks for making hollow 'shells'?

Post by red5angel »

the piece I need to make is probably best comparable to say, a helmet, but a thick one, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about making it. It needs to be about the size of a nerf football. I'm keeping my eyes out for something apropriately shaped to act as a form but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for doing shapes like this?

holy cow, the first technique you posted is actually pretty dang close to perfect for what I need, now here's a tricky question - is there a good way to bond styrene sheet to foam insulation?

5 minute epoxy should work just fine.
So me, trying to be tolerant of everybody's situations, went to a feminist picnic. Things fell apart fairly quickly after nobody made any sandwiches.
