Thinning Delta Ceramcoat

Hello all, need a little help
Im trying to thin delta ceramcoat to spray in my AB. ive tried alcohol(92%), water, Tamiya thinner, windshield washer fluid and the best ive found but unsuitiable for me was either Future or tamiya clear. any other ideas? im going to try windex and distilled water next.

Delta paint is thicker than other craft acrylics. Apple Barrel will work better. I've had success thinning it down with Future and spraying thru my Paasche.

Unfortunatly craft store paints no matter how much you thin them will still have little "chunks" of paint in it.

Check out the "Frugal Airbrusher" thread. I do it all the time with Apple Barrel paints and get great results. Specifics are in the thread. See if that helps you out. If not, ask away.

I've used Windex (or similar) with ok results with Ceramcoat.

Thin the paint in a separate bottle, don't mix it in the airbrush cup. I've found that it takes a while for the paint and thinner to mix together, especially if you're used to enamels.

Even dark colors over a light base take multiple coats to cover, I've used a hairdryer to speed things along.

I tried this formula, and it works quite well. I tend to substitute ISO alcohol for windex, as I can't stand the smell of windex in a vapor state!

I can't overstate how important straining the paint is. I strain everything I shoot now, regardless of the brand, and I have sooo many fewer clogs and stopages!

Micromark makes a great set of funnels with strainers in them.

I have a set, they rock! But a pair of the wife's old pantyhose over a standard funnel works great too!

IIRC Ceramcoat has a latex component, adding rubbing/isopropyl alcohol to it will quickly cause the latex to congeal.

Some of the other craft paints do not have this problem.

Test first!

Isopropyl Alcohol, aka Rubbing Alcohol.

Normally available in 70% and 90% concentrations at any drugstore.

I haven't tried the Liquitex version, but have used Goldens airbrush medium and have been underwhelmed with its performance. The ONLY thing I use it for is thinning Goldens fluid acrylics for airbrush use. On any other paint, it works little better than water in my opinion.
