Engine and cockpit pics. Bear with me I'm new to this thing called photo bucket.('')
Sanded out engines to except red LED's using my Dremel

First I used a small drill bit to make a starter hole at center. Changed bits for a sanding attachment that takes out more material.

Another sanding bit to take out more material from Engines

Foiling inside of engines using spray on fixative. Results were OK.

All foiled up!

First I scrapped a little foil exposing the plastic beneath so the epoxy could get a good bite onto the inside of the engine. Epoxy to foil will not make a strong bond especially if the foil is held on only by fixative.

All joining seams were rough sanded so CA can get better tooth. Small bits of foil that were overlapping the seams were also corrected so as to not interfere with glue up of parts.

First engine test

Also have the end caps glued on here. You can't see it but the engines are primed and are seamless. I was nervous about that.

Optics installed in cockpit.
Test run with a white LED mounted in my breadboard. It looks better in person.

Though you can't see it from this pic, I did cut out what the kit had as a seat in the cockpit. I then purchased, painted, and attached a 1/48 scale ejection seat to a Martin Baker H7 (without belts) from Productions Legend. I did manage also to pick up a Hasagawa 1/48 scale U.S. Navy pilot/Deck crew set :A, from which I now have a pilot for my X-wing. I re-adjusted the pilots arms so they will work and fit properly into the cockpit. I need to sand his buttocks so his helmet doesn't interfere with the canopy.

Toying with the idea of putting in a targeting computer and having it back lit with an optic. Food for thought.

I like your treatment of the engines. I'm working on my first FO project and I may adapt your technique to my situation. I may use a white LED with blue tinted foil.
