Scratch building diorama idea

Post by jpolacchi »

So,its been quite a while since I have been in here and also since I have worked on any projects.I'm trying to fit some of my hobby back into my life, but my job doesn't make that easy. In any case,I'm trying to work on some of the Fine Molds kits I bought a few years back. One of which is the 1/144 scale Falcon.I wanted to incorporate it into a diorama idea,that...I'm not sure how "original" it is(I'm sure others have thought of doing it if they haven't already),but I anted to replicate an iconic scene from ESB.The Millennium Falcon stowing away on the back end of a Star Destroyer. In any case...I'm not sure how to scale the upper part of the Star Destroyer and its tower, and at 1/144 scale...it still may be pretty big?I need to find some way to scale it properly as well as finding building plans.I know there are loads of photo references, but as far as actual B.P to go off of...I'm not sure? How would some of you more experienced builders out there go about a project like this?Just hoping to get put in the right direction. Many thanks for any assistance.

Simple answer is to go to Star Wars dot com and find images like this, and go, "Okay, it's that big compared to that thing" and go by proportions without worrying about specific numerals.

Here's 4 minute YouTube vid that shows the 2014 build that Toni Castroviejo did:

Toni really doesn't provide details; it looks like a 1/144 Falcon to me.
